For those who might not know, Dave and Steph go WAY back!

It was a chilly, sunny St.Patrick's Day in 2007 when fate first brought the the two together. Through a gathering of mutual friends, and a few "minor" dramatic events later...Dave and Steph had finally met. However brief the encounter was, the foundation had been laid for a wonderful friendship. Months later, the two bumped into each other again volunteering in Orientation Week at Wilfrid Laurier University (Go Hawks Go!) and then again and again and again. Within weeks, the two became part of a tightly-knit group of friends, and continued to take on the many Laurier adventures together.
It wasn't until late 2009 when Stephanie accepted a role at the 2010 Vancouver Olympic Games when the two realized their feelings were stronger than ever... and that they were on the edge of something much more special than friendship.
Dave travelled to Vancouver to visit Steph during her time in B.C., and that was only the beginning of their global adventures as a dynamic duo. Since then, they've taken on the Carribbean, Northern Europe, all over the U.S., many fun trips to the Maritimes to visit Steph's parents and Southeast Asia... and that's only just the beginning for these two as they continue to take on the world... only now as man and wife.

Story

The Proposal

The Lead Up

As many of you know by now, Dave sure likes to plan ahead. And did he ever for the most perfect proposal on a beautiful May evening.

The proposal took place at the family cottage in Wasaga Beach. The cottage has always been a very special place to the couple, filled with endless memories of family and great friends. This made it the perfect backdrop for Dave to pop the question.

Dave's parents were part of a big scheme to lure Stephanie up to the cottage on a Thursday night under the pretense that "the sprinkler guys" were coming up on Friday morning. Little did Steph know, Dave also had been in contact with her manager, who convinced Steph to take Friday off work, as she had been working a lot of overtime and needed a very well-deserved break.

The two drove up on what appeared to be a completely normal cottage drive (including, but not limited to: corny jokes, dancing and agressively loud singing, and of course duets to songs from a fan-favourite musical "Rent"). Dave had promised to make Steph the dinner of her choice (her selection: homemade hamburgers... keeping it real classy), which they enjoyed as the sun set over the bay. Moments later, Dave invited Steph down to beach for a sunset stroll, where he got down on one knee and asked for her hand in marriage. Woo-hoo!

But wait... it gets better! Many, many squeals later and once the moment had slowly started to sink in (as much as it can!), Dave excitedly presented Steph with a cooler filled with items, including:

- Chocolate-covered strawberries

- A dozen red roses

- Champagne (of which we learned not to drink from the bottle after opening... lesson learned!)

- A sign saying "She Said Yes!...Wheh!" (like she would have said anything else)

- A delicious cake that read "Congratulations Us!"

- Their very own Adventure Book (please refer to the movie ever "Up" for full understanding of this beautiful gesture)

- A blanket and candles, which Dave took the time to set up while Steph called (and ugly cried) to her eagerly awaiting parents in Halifax (see picture for how epic this proposal picnic really was!)

After a handful of phone calls to some pretty excited parents and siblings (and Allison, naturally), the happy couple finished the perfect evening with a romantic bonfire.

It would be remiss not to mention the other amazing moment of this same evening on May 28, 2015... and that would be the duel enagement celebration that we are beyond honoured to share with Dave's older brother and his beautiful now fiancee, Andrew and Alexandria! We absolutely can't wait to celebrate both loves this year, on July 16 and September 10, 2016!
